First of all I want to thank everyone for their many birthday messages, they are indeed much appreciated. I have very much enjoyed my birthday/Labor Day weekend finally visiting my sister, in Austin. In light of my return to Rome, I had planned this visit for several months. After Hurricane Harvey, I called my sister and told her, “I can’t go close to those who are suffering and then turn the other way.” So this morning, instead of sight-seeing, we spent time moving and organizing diapers at the Texas Diaper Bank.
I’m sharing a video they took of the many volunteers working together. I don’t share this to say, “look at me.” I share it to say YOU TOO can make a difference, YOU TOO can chose to change the world. Did moving diapers today change the world? No, but it’s a very small step in the right direction. I share it so YOU TOO might feel compelled to help in any way possible in your local communities. Posting on social media is not enough. Talk is cheap. Service requires sacrifice. We must push ourselves beyond our comfort zone, be willing to go take action on the front lines.

“The Love of Christ impels us.” -2 Cor 5:14
